Minerva Academy stands up during the time of pandemic and announces free vaccination for all Minervans

Minervans getting vaccinated

Minerva Academy announced free vaccination for all its staff today, thereby putting the “let’s win against Corona together” mindset into action.

Minerva Academy will get everyone vaccinated during the mega vaccination drive being carried out by the Central Government, starting from the first week of May.

The club has already vaccinated 75 employees during the first phase of vaccination and is planning to get 100 residential athletes vaccinated in the upcoming phases.

“We all want COVID-19 to be behind us as fast as possible and we want to contribute our part to make the country safe again by getting vaccinated as soon as the vaccine is available to us. Most of our employees have already gotten vaccinated. We want our employees to be #COVIDWarriors, so we have entered into a partnership with the local hospital for free vaccination. By doing this we will make sure that our Academy is safe,” said Minerva Academy Director Mr. Ranjit Bajaj.

Notable work done by Minerva during the lockdowns:

During the lockdown, the Minerva employees, as well as director Mr. Ranjit Bajaj, donated blood twice as a response to heavy blood demand due to the pandemic in Chandigarh. A total of 100 Minerva employees and players donated blood in the 2 phases of blood donation which was carried out in association with Sector 37 Rotary club blood bank.

Minerva Academy also took care of stray animals and fed over 250 stray dogs in various sectors of Chandigarh during the lockdown and also opened the doors of PAWs (Minerva’s Dog sanctuary) for the stray dogs.

The club donated a total of 5 Lakh Rupees to fight corona, including 2 Lakh Rupees to the PM Cares fund, 1 Lakh rupees to the Government of Punjab under the Punjab Chief Minister Relief Fund - COVID-19 scheme, 1 Lakh rupees to the Government of Haryana under Haryana Corona Relief Fund, and 1 Lakh Rupees to Administration of Chandigarh under COVID-19 Relief Fund of UT Chandigarh.

To promote and contribute to children's physical development and well-being through sports, Minerva Academy donated sports equipment and exclusive merchandise twice during the unlock phase. The club distributed sports equipment, footballs, football kits to the local kids of Daun village. The club also distributed nutritious meals, sports equipment, footballs, football kits, and trophies to an NGO named Education First Society.

The club donated 50 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research in Chandigarh. In doing so, the football club showed that their helping hand to people goes beyond sports, and they also stand in solidarity with all the frontline workers who courageously continue to serve us during this difficult time.

Post-COVID Norms in the academy:

Since the lockdown, the entire 22-acre Academy is regularly sanitized on a weekly basis. Strict rules like social distancing, no handshake or touching, etc are being followed inside the campus. Disinfection tunnel, body temperature check, and negative RT-PCR result are part of the new norms now to enter the academy.
