ISL Hero Of The Week : Week 1

The first week of Indian Super League is finished and all the teams have played atleast one games each. Quality football was played in all the matches. The fans are happy to see how their players are playing. Every matches has some best performing player. The "Hero Of The Match". This Hero's are the best performing players who contributed very much for their team. But since atleast one game is completed for each team, it's time to select the "Hero Of The Week". These "Hero Of The Week" is selected from all the Heroes of the match in the first week. The fans are selecting their Hero Of The Week through a voting. First let's look at who are the nominees for "FA Sports Hero Of The Week" then click the link below to vote.

1. Roy Krishna 

Roy Krishna began his professional career in his native Fiji, before making the switch to New Zealand. He spent six glorious years there, turning out for Waitakere United and Auckland City. Krishna then moved to the A-League and continued his scoring streak, notching up more than 50 goals for the Wellington Phoenix. He also won the Golden Boot and the prestigious Johnny Warren Medal after a stellar 2018-19 season. At the international level, the striker has 23 goals for Fiji. After a dream debut season with ATK FC, where the striker scored 15 goals as his team lifted the trophy, he signed a one-year contract with ATK Mohun Bagan FC.

2. Khassa Camara

Khassa Camara began his youth career in France with Ligue 2 side ES Troyes AC’s B team. After spending half of the 2014-15 season on loan with French third tier side US Boulogne, he moved to Greece to join GS Ergotelis in the second division of Greek football. Half a season later, Camara moved to AO Xanthi – a top tier Greek side at the time – and became integral to the team’s midfield, making 76 league appearances for them and bagging two assists. He represents Mauritania, making his international debut in 2013 and now has 27 caps for the national team. Camara played for them in the 2019 African Cup of Nations, making two appearances for his side in the tournament. He was signed by NorthEast United FC ahead of Hero ISL 2020-21.

3. Igor Angulo

Igor Angulo began his career with Athletic Bilbao before going on to play for Numancia, Gimnàstic de Tarragona and Real Union in Spain. Away from Spain, he’s played for French sides AS Cannes, Cyrus’ Enosis Neon Paralimni FC and Greece’s Apollon Smyrnis as well as Platanias FC before a move to Gornik Zabrze in Poland. During his four years in Poland, the Spaniard scored 88 goals and bagged 21 assists in 154 games. He brings in valuable experience to the FC Goa side. 

4. Aridane Santana

Aridane Santana began his senior professional career with RC Deportivo Fabrilduring the 2007-08 season. He stayed with the club for three years before going on to represent Real Zaragoza reserves, Universidad Las Palmas and Leganés. He later signed for Tenerife and in his second season with the club, helped them gain promotion with 25 goals in the league. During the 2018-19 season, the striker scored 10 times in 32 matches in the Segunda Division B - Group I, for Spanish outfit Cultural Leonesa. On loan to Odisha FC in the 2019-20 season, the forward was brilliant, leading the goalscoring charts with nine goals before his season was curtailed due to an injury. The Spaniard joined Hyderabad FC ahead of Hero ISL 2020-21.

5. Anirudh Thapa

Anirudh Thapa started his schooling at St. Joseph's Academy and played football for his school team. Thapa’s debut in the Hero ISL came in 2016 in a 5-4 thriller which Chennaiyin FC lost. Thapa played 16 matches during Chennaiyin FC’s title-winning 2017-18 Hero ISL season contributing two goals and an assist. Despite Chennaiyin FC’s disappointing 2018-19 campaign, Thapa played regularly and established himself as one of the team’s most influential players. Thapa’s swift growth trajectory also made him an integral part of the national team setup. A strong 2019-20 season saw Thapa make 20 appearances, scoring one goal, a beautiful curler against FC Goa, while assisting another six. the talented midfielder will hope to establish himself as a national and club legend in the years to come.

6. Adam le Fondre

Adam le Fondre, or Alfie as he’s fondly known, began his youth career with Stockport County before spending time with Rochdale AFC. A move to Rotherham United followed before he made the switch to Reading FC in 2011. le Fondre, went on to become a pivotal figure for Reading and was influential in their run to the Championship title and promotion to the Premier League in his debut season at the club. His next move saw him joining Cardiff City before signing for Bolton Wanderers. In 14 seasons in English football, le Fondre scored 183 goals and made 44 assists in 532 appearances. In 2018, he moved abroad for the first time to A-League’s Sydney FC. Alfie enjoyed tremendous success in Australia, leading Sydney towards two Grand Final wins and one Premier Cup in two seasons, netting 45 goals and four assists in 67 appearances. He will look to continue his rich vein of form with Mumbai City FC in Hero ISL 2020-21. 

7. Dylan Fox

The Australian defender began his career at Sutherland Sharks and joined Bonnyrigg White Eagles in 2013 before his big move to Wellington Phoenix. Having been named the best Wellington Phoenix Under-23 Player of the Year in 2016, Dylan was awarded the Player's Player of the eason and also finished to Roy Krishna for runner up for the “Player of the Year” during the 2017-18 Season. After a stint with South Korean club FC Anyang, he returned to Australia to join Central Coast Mariners for the 2019-20 season. Dylan moves to the Hero ISL ahead of the 2020-21 season to add solidity to NorthEast United’s backline. 

8. Carl McHugh

Carl McHugh has played in England with Reading FC's youth setups, Plymouth Argyle in League Two and Bradford City in League One. He was part of the Bradford setup which defied all odds to reach the League Cup final back in 2012-13. It was the first time in over 51 years that a fourth-tier club in England played the prestigious cup final. He made 47 appearances with Scottish club Motherwell before joining ATK FC. After a successful season with the club, McHugh signed a one-year contract with ATK Mohun Bagan FC ahead of the 2020-21 Hero ISL season.

9. Chinglensana Singh

Shillong Lajong FC gave Chinglensana Singh his first taste of senior football in the Hero I-League after signing him up in 2015. The youngster represented Delhi Dynamos FC in Hero ISL 2016 and had an impressive debut season. He was picked by the Gaurs in the draft leading into Hero ISL 2017-18, making 19 appearances for them over three seasons. He will don the colours of Hyderabad FC in Hero ISL 2020-21.
